THE NATIONAL TRUST'S LITTLE RAINBOW REVELATIONS

The National Trust debacle exposes something not mentioned by Libby Purves. That beneath the veneer of LGBTI rights and equality still lies an ugly resistant prejudice that at any time and in easy fashion could rear its very ugly head and return us to full blown, hompophobic discrimination.
Liberals are deluding themselves, if they think this present wind of liberation and apparent acceptance of variation is anything other than a seasonal shift in climate.
Explore a little deeper, even suggest that ordinary, ostensibly sweet natured volunteers, that form the backbone of the U.K., might be willing to don a rainbow badge, and suddenly war erupts and the poison rises.
It is prudent to pause every so often and realise that we are ever only a few steps away from the lynch mob, from having our homes ransacked and from being carried off to the gas chambers.
Social order hangs by a gossamer thread and inclusive policies by a much finer filament.
